Trend Alert: Mermaid Waves with Ombré Color Shading

To make your wavy style unique, ask your stylist to create an ombré effect by adding a darker shade (from the same color family) on the last few inches of your hair. Aside from making a standout beauty statement, the deeper color will also make your hair look thicker and longer! 

Word to the wise: The last few inches of your hair can be quite porous. It takes a beauty professional to keep your ends true-to-tone.

Make waves with these quick how-to tips:

• To create crisper ridges, place your fingers on each side of the wave, pinch them together and spray the ridges with a firm-holding hairspray.  
• Dry the spray with a blow dryer and a diffuser or a concentrator nozzle attachment. 

• Make sure to keep the wind velocity low and temperature set on warm, not hot.  
• Keep your fingers in place until the hair cools completely.

Extra Perk!

When styling mermaid waves, use a 100% boar bristle, oval styling brush with a cushioned base. It creates less tension on the hair and will help keep your waves intact. The bristles also smooth the cuticle and create a lustrous sheen.
