Honoring the who’s who of Hollywood hair, IT&LY HAIRFASHION (ItalyHairfashion.com) rolled out the red carpet for the oft unsung heroes of film: talented hair artists that have done everything from putting the “poof” in Elvis Presley’s jelly roll to creating Prince Poppycock’s sky-high coils. In fact, top movie ’dressers from the sets of Gossip Girl, Dancing with the Stars, America’s Got Talent, Sex and the City 2, Twilight Eclipse, Burlesque and For Colored Girls—to name just a few—were awarded inaugural IT&LY Artisan Awards.
Among the 14 recipients: Colleen LaBaff, Bonnie Clevering, Frank Barbosa, Marcia Hamilton, and Russell Latham. Richard Zucckero, President and CEO, along with IT&LY HAIRFASHION Inteational Marketing Manager, Chiara Fusaro and publicist Janice McCafferty, served as the evening’s award presenters. According to Zucckero, “It was time for our industry and IT&LY HAIRFASHION to recognize our peers for mastering their artistry and craft. Their abilities to create and recreate characters, periods in history, as well as fantasy for film and television, have brought a new found source of awareness and education to hairdressers around the world.”
Of course, the big event included much more than one dynamic awards show at the Hard Rock Hotel’s Body English Night Club. This star-studded event also featured two days of education sponsored by IT&LY HAIRFASHION NA, where masters demonstrated the latest cutting and coloring techniques combined with editorial and highfashion styling, as well as a beauty and fashion runway extravaganza.
Bre Scullark of America’s Next Top Model fame and one of Tyra Banks’ top correspondents, served as the host for the runway event that was assembled by celebrity fashion stylist Allison Lang, Fashion Director for MTV2’s The Fashion Show.
