“I was also coloring Christina Ricci’s hair for her Broadway show, Time Stands Still, with Laura Linney until it closed a few weeks ago,” Backe beams. “I changed Christina’s hair from deep brunette to a beautiful, multi-tonal light brunette with gorgeous gold overtones. It really brought out her features onstage and made her eyes and complexion look amazing up close and for the camera.”
Beauty Bullion
Raising the bar for rich, warm tones this spring, Sherri Jessee, Rusk Creative Team member, celebrity stylist and owner of Sherri’s Hair Salon in Bristol, Virginia, tus her model’s hair from funky blonde to pure gold. “I adore golden blondes as they give a gorgeous glow to the complexion,” she enthuses. “For model Nadia, I used Rusk Deepshine Super Lightener Gold with 40-volume developer and did a few balayage highlights with Deepshine Blonde Gentle Lightening Cream plus 20-volume developer. I then glazed Nadia’s hair with Deepshine Demi (equal parts 9 Gold and 10 Ultra Light Beige) to create a rich, uniform warm tone.”
The Scoop
Actress, Christina Ricci: “To achieve the final level 6 haircolor, I first prelightened Christina’s tinted strands,” notes Jason Backe. “After lightening and then processing the INOA 6.1, I applied Richesse as a glaze and watched it closely to ensure that it was removed when the hair took on a rich, neutral color, but didn’t become too dark.”
