Angels Among Us
Styling sensation Sherri Jessee created this dreamy collection that captures the radiant beauty of Earth angels.
What inspired Jessee to create this angelic theme?
"I was inspired to do Angels Among Us after someone commented on how beautiful my daughter's hair looked. I replied, "That is surely what the hair on angels in heaven looks like!" That was the inspiration behind the collection. "I also thought: What if an angel's wings were also made of hair?"
Jessee was eager to tap into her creative energy and soon began sketching out shapes for her new hair concept. Then she set out to determine exactly how to create the wings.
"I discussed this with my son who is an artist and carpenter. We first thought of using cardboard, but we thought it may be too heavy, so we decided to use chicken wire," reveals Jessee. The hair guru then ordered a box of hair extensions from her favorite wig shop in New York and artistically experimented with a pair of needle nose pliers and a hot glue gun.
"I began cutting, twisting and crafting the shapes. I then finger waved, braided, roped and weaved-and then gently folded them up and put them into a suitcase bound for a Chicago photo shoot." Jessee mentions that wardrobe stylist, Jennifer Lynn worked with the wings on set, customizing them for each of the five angels as she wrapped them in gauzy chiffon.
