Rave Reviews
Boom Boom of New York City's Boom Boom Brow Bar encourages salons to post customer reviews rather than bios on websites

Online reviews can have a tremendous impact on consumers' decisions. Ultimately, a single review-positive or negative-can tip the scale in favor of one salon over another.

Lash icon Boom Boom, owner of Boom Boom Brow Bar, spreads some good marketing news that's provided a boost to her business. Rather than featuring bios of staff members on her website, she posts their photos along with real reviews written with glee by clients.

"You can list credentials and experience, but it's kind of old school. People today are interested in the facts-does this person do good enough work that others are willing to talk about it? If so, they want in on the action," explains Boom Boom.

Featuring reviews front-and-center can also be a motivational tool for staff. "Trust me, when your staff knows you read the reviews and need a constant supply of positive ones to feature on your website, they perk right up!" she adds. Take the freebie reviews, and also encourage clients to write reviews by offering special discounts/services to those that do.
