Hairstyle How-To: The Wet Knot
Messy, wet knots provided a sexy, uncomplicated style at the Roberto Cavalli show in Milan. Here's how to create it for your clients this season.

A messy wet knot, fitting for the inherently sexy Roberto Cavalli woman, took center stage at the runway show in Milan. Redken's Creative Consultant, Guido styled the hair. First, Shine Flash 02 glistening mist was liberally applied to provide a wet shine finish. Once the knot was fastened in the back, Guido sprayed forceful 23 super strength hairspray to give some form to the mess. Sexy and uncomplicated-the look was completely Cavalli.

"The Cavalli look is sexy hair in an easy way. For this style to work on the runway, it can't be over complicated," says Guido. "I sprayed shine flash 02 glistening mist all over the hair to make it wet looking. You really need a generous amount of product to achieve this style. Once the hair is coated, rake the hair back with your fingers and twist into a messy knot. For this show, the knot is positioned a bit higher to account for the high collars, but it also makes the style younger and more carefree. A lower position always feels more serious and austere."

Create the Look:

1. Allow hair to dry naturally

2. Section-by-section, apply shine flash 02 glistening mist from root-to-ends

3. Rake hair back with fingers and pull it into a messy knot

4. Spray forceful 23 super strength finishing spray directly on the crown and slightly pull hair out to create a messy finish
