Oiled Again! Fixes for Slick Summer Skin
Feeling slimy? Don't hide from the world-fix the problem! HotOnBeauty will show you how.

Vacations, travel, beach time and beautiful weather: The summer can really bring out the best in us. But what about our skin? Oiliness is an unfortunate by-product of rises in heat and humidity. It isn't a lost cause, however! We'll show you how to combat icky grease for a beautiful, matte complexion.

1. Cleanse

Is your face doubling as a mirror these days? Eek! The next time you notice someone admiring their reflection in your T-zone, consider investing in a cleanser that fights acne as well as oil overproduction. Any cleanser that contains up to 2% salicylic acid, like Murad Clarifying Cleanser, will be a proven oil fighter, guaranteed! Any higher than that percentage, though, and you risk overdrying skin.

P.S. Wash with lukewarm water! It opens pores and allows you to clean more deeply.

2. Exfoliate

Exfoliating isn't just a surface service; believe it or not, it can also deep-clean oily skin by removing dead skin cells as well as grease and impurities from deep inside the pores. A scrub like Derma E Microdermabrasion Scrub will ensure squeaky-clean pores!

3. Use sunscreen

Um, duh! You should be using this already, silly. But just in case you needed another reason to slather on the SPF, take note: Sunscreen can also help control oil and shine! Look for an oil-free formula like Control Corrective Oil-Free Sunscreen SPF 30 and indulge in those fringe benefits.

4. BB creme

You know that ubiquitous product that claims to do absolutely everything? (It's a foundation, it's a concealer, it does your taxes, etc.!) Well, BB creme can also work to prevent clogged pores and thus oil production. Since foundation can melt into pores (especially in hot weather), BB creme provides a low-risk substitute. Try Sorme Treat & Tint Skin Perfect BB Cream for all those benefits.

5. Moisturize

You might think that if your skin's too oily, the last thing it needs is moisture. Well, you'd be wrong! Cleansing removes much of your face's natural oil, so you need a moisturizer to help restore and replace it. One of our faves: Malibu C Perfection-Creme. If you don't moisturize, your skin will most likely produce even more oil to replenish. Funny how that works, isn't it?

6. Touch-ups

Consider blotting papers or medicated pads as an on-the-go solution for oily skin. They're so easy to pack in your purse, can you afford not to? Jane Iredale Facial Blotting Papers will do the trick!
