On the Runway

The runway at the Calvin Klein show, held during New York City's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, showcased a collection of feminine silhouettes in a palette of black and white-some flaunted more structured designs. A range of flirty dresses and more demure skirt- and -pant suits were also presented for spring/summer 2013. The chic collection also debuted a lot of texture with many sheer fabrics playing peek-a-boo with the audience.

Redken Creative Consultant Guido closed out New York's Fashion Week at the Calvin Klein show where he created a simple style with an emphasis on a rich, natural texture.

"The look is inspired by the classic Calvin girl herself-super chic, super urban. It's a little bit grungy, but overall the look is very natural," says Guido, Redken Creative Consultant. "It's not blown out straight, but just blow-dried with the fingers to achieve this soft, unrefined texture."

Guido used a handful of stellar products to create these natural, textured tresses. Among them were powder refresh 01 aerosol hair powder/dry shampoo; full frame 07 all over volumizing spray mousse; and forceful 23 super strength finishing spray.

Create Guido's Look:

  1. Apply full frame 07 all over volumizing mousse throughout damp hair to create texture and movement and blow dry hair with fingers to create soft, natural texture.

  2. Create a deep left side part

  3. Apply powder refresh 01 aerosol hair powder/dry shampoo all over.

  4. Spray style with forceful 23 super strength finishing spray to keep the natural wave in the hair, but then lightly brush through so it's not stringy and remains very natural from root to ends.
