Tis the season to spread some cheer! In an effort of goodwill, Sweis played Santa at Miller Children's Hospital in the seaside town of Long Beach, California and gave a generous donation of toys, supplies and funding for new iPads.
Miller Children's Hospital, which provides specialized pediatric care for babies, children and teens, has a Child Life Program that educates parents and children about medical care, while bringing a sense of normalcy through playtime in its designated playrooms. The program relies on generous donations from benevolent companies such as Sweis to provide the materials needed to keep children entertained and engaged during their stay at the hospital.
Rita Goshert, Clinical Operations Manager of Child Life Department, accepted wagons full of toys from Karl and Teresa Sweis, took the duet on a hospital tour and talked about the special needs of the Child Life Program. The iPads are especially helpful to the Child Life Specialists who use them as an age-appropriate way to educate children about their medical procedure.
"At Sweis it is our ongoing mission to give back to our community. This year our goal was to touch the lives of the many children that pass through Miller Children's," says Karl Sweis CEO/Founder Sweis Inc. "During Christmas there are many children who have to spend the night in the hospital. Now they will have presents to open which will hopefully bring some joy to their holiday."
