The salon industry is coming together in an unprecedented show of unity and support to raise awareness and money for hairdressers who were impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
"Hairdressers Helping Hairdressers" will be held Sunday, December 9, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. EST at Canoe Studios in New York City. The event will also be broadcast live to allow beauty professionals worldwide to participate.
The event will feature some of the industry's brightest luminaries, including celebrity stylist Ted Gibson who will serve as emcee. The evening's festivities will be further supported by multiple product manufacturers, distributors and media outlets. Aall ticket proceeds and donations from the event will benefit the Professional Beauty Association's (PBA) Disaster Relief Fund. The PBA Disaster Relief Fund awards 100% of funds generated to help industry professionals impacted by natural disasters as they begin rebuilding.
Several cross-manufacturer teams have united with the simple focus of generating as much money and awareness as possible. "There are a number of local and individual efforts underway to help our hairdresser community, and there are many others across the country who want to help. We are rallying our industry to make an impact for the thousands of hairdressers who need assistance now," says Steve Sleeper, Executive Director, Professional Beauty Association.
Top platform and celebrity artists are scheduled to perform. The A-list list includes Nick Berardi, Goldwell, Joico, KMS, Matrix, Oribe, Sassoon, Sebastian, Wella, and Zotos, among others.
In addition, Sally Beauty/BSG, SalonCentric and DePasquale companies, as well as Pivot Point International, will make special donations.
In addition to the hair and fashion shows, the event will include a silent auction.
